Our Group at the CEN 2026 in Warsaw

The CEN is a joint meeting of the Austro-Swiss Region (ROeS), the German Region (DR), the Polish Region of the International Biometric Society (IBS), and the Polish Biometric Society. This year's conference was held under the motto "Power of Data — Shaping the Future of Life Sciences". The theme highlights the growing importance of data in transforming and advancing the life sciences, as the ability to interpret and apply vast amounts of information effectively is essential for informed decision-making that influences human health, quality of life, and the environment.
We are proud that our group was well represented at this year's conference, with several members and researchers closely connected to the chair presenting their work on biometrical topics, including:
- Marléne Baumeister - Inference for Functional Matched Pairs Designs with Missingness.
- Jan-Bernd Igelmann - Proper Back-Transformations for the Random-Effects Model in Meta-Analysis.
- Paavo Sattler - Choice of the hypothesis matrix for usual quadratic forms.
- Konstantin Emil Thiel - Nonparametric analysis of covariance in MannWhitney effects.
- Maria Thurow - Handling Missing Data in Life Science: A Comparative Study of Imputation Methods for Medical Data.
Additionally, our student assistant Paula Lorenz presented her Bachelor's thesis in the Young Statisticians Session, and Jan-Bernd Igelmann presented his Master's thesis “Optimal Designs for Non-Linear Segmented Regression” receiving the Bernd-Streitberg Award of the IBS-DR.
